The Heep Concert - Heep Big Experience

Witchy Wenesday, that is what last Wednesday turned out to be...amazing day, ending with an amazing concert... Let me go straight to the concert, because the day was, as usual, cool...

It was sad to know that there are so few people that listen to Uriah Heep; forget that, who know of their existence. As a result, the crowd at the concert was just a handful of hard core rockers... And that was the fantastic thing too....just hard core rockers who know their music... no screaming adolescent nincompoop wannabes, or older wannabes, for that matter... and we got to see the band doing their stuff from, like the 2nd row.

And the music...what can I say? From songs like The Wizard to Free Me, and a couple of ballads thrown in (a vocal and piano with only Bernie and Phil)...amazing. Lovely rhythm, as usual...and its something I have seen even in the Satriani concert - these guys really have fun doing what they do - and seeing 40 50-year olds having fun and doing guitar riffs and drum solos - no wonder they are such huge acts worldwide...

And what do I have as a memento of the concert? A ticket with an embossed hologram, and 3 quarts of Vodka that were left behind in the car...

The Great Assamese Bash

Recently I went for an Assamese do. Right here in Bangalore. It was a great feeling - meeting so many people who spoke the same language as I in this second home of mine, 3000-odd kilometers away from my homeland. Such events have other fringe benefits too - catching up with old friends, reviving old associations, while at the same time putting out old animosities... Also good to see friends stoned, while I stayed stone cold sober...seems more fun observing drunken behavior than indulging in it...

However, it was the end which led me to rekindle another of my pet theories (though I was not present to witness it in all its nuisancical glory). It is a branching off, a modification, so to speak, of the Aryan theory, mine is more specific ... we Assamese are directly related to the Gauls of Europe. Proof? Well, every time we meet up and there's a gathering, it always ends in a brawl... and it doesn't always start off with a song, or a fish...
